If you love spending your free time shopping, then you’ll find loads of places to shop in Sheffield, whether it’s the high street or the city’s smaller independent stores on Division Street. If you prefer the larger shopping experience then head down to Meadowhall, which is the city’s largest indoor shopping centre.
For dining and socialising, the city has some amazing independent cafes and restaurant as well as all your favourite chain restaurants. Try the well-known Tamper Coffee in one of its three locations dotted around Sheffield for an alternative Kiwi-style brunch.
If you and your friends have different tastes, then try Cutlery Works, which is an indoor food hall with a variety of food stands, where everyone will be able to find something that takes their fancy. Another great place to go for a meal or just drink is along Ecclesall Road which is a popular student area with lots of independent restaurants, pubs, bars and shops.
Sheffield also has a great nightlife, with lots of clubs to choose from, with a variety of musical genres, there’ll always be somewhere different to choose from. Situated on Milton Street is the popular nightclub ‘Corporation’ (commonly known as Corp) where you can purchase a blue pint – confirmed as any Sheffield student’s drink of choice. If you prefer house music head down to Tank or for more cheesy pop hits, Popworld!
Kelham Island is a great place to go is you love going to pubs. This neighbourhood was once home to major steel works and factories, in the hub of Sheffield’s oldest manufacturing sites. You can learn more about the history of Sheffield at the Kelham Island Museum before tasting some local beer at one of the many traditional, home breweries.
To compliment the pubs on Kelham Island, there is also a great independent pizza place, Craft & Dough, which usually has some great offers at student friendly prices.
All shopping and nightlife are situated just a short walk from the Steelworks apartments, which is the perfect location for students arriving in a city they are unfamiliar with, whilst staying in great apartments with so many facilities.
